Impact Evaluation Framework 1.0

CAST and KNOCA developed this impact evaluation framework for climate assemblies.

The Centre for Climate Change and Social Transformations (CAST) has worked with the Knowledge Network on Climate Assemblies (KNOCA) to develop an impact evaluation framework for climate assemblies. This first version is being applied in a number of settings. A revised version is being produced following a workshops that was held in late 2023 to consider the lessons from these first evaluations as well as ideas from the broader KNOCA community.

The Impact Evaluation Framework recognises that impact comes in different shapes and forms. The current framework distinguishes two dimensions of impact: (1) areas of impact (policy, social and systemic) and (2) types of impact (instrumental, conceptual and capacity building). It encourages researchers and evaluators to consider the full range of potential impacts of climate assemblies.

The framework provides guidance on critical considerations in evaluation, including timing and methods. We encourage use and adaptation of the framework. Please feedback any lessons you learn for improving the framework.
