A conversation with Ireland’s Children and Young People’s Assembly on Biodiversity Loss
Green Foundation Ireland invites you to participate in the above evening online event from 19:00 to 20:00 GMT on Friday evening 19 May 2023.
In October 2022, Ireland held its first Children and Young People’s Assembly on Biodiversity Loss. Designed with children and young people, the Assembly brought together 35 randomly selected members aged 7-17 from across Ireland to explore, discuss and create calls to action on how to protect and restore biodiversity in Ireland.
In this talk, Katie Reid (participation lead for the Assembly) will host a conversation with some of the children and young people involved about their experiences, calls to action and hopes for the future.
Katie is a children’s participation practitioner and researcher, with a focus on intergenerational, creative forms of decision-making related to the environment and climate change.
She is particularly interested in how deliberative forms of democracy can better involve children and young people having been the project lead for children’s participation in Scotland’s Climate Assembly and, more recently, working as part of an intergenerational team to deliver Ireland’s Children and Young People’s Assembly on Biodiversity Loss.
While admission is FREE to this event, you MUST register beforehand as places are extremely limited.
