Spring School on Climate Citizens’ Assemblies a resounding success

From
May 2, 2023

On 27-28 April, KNOCA collaborated with FIDE (Federation for Innovation in Democracy – Europe) to organise a Spring School on Climate Citizens’ Assemblies in Milan. Based in the stunning Fondazione Giangiacomo Feltrinelli building, the two-day event attracted over 60 practitioners and policy officials from across Europe and beyond.

The programme took participants through the challenges of organising and running a climate assembly, with plenary sessions focused on setting the remit, recruitment, selecting and presenting evidence, governance and embedding and institutionalising assemblies. Participants were able to deep dive into workshops on children and young people, engaging stakeholders, empowering members after assemblies and Italian policy and practice. It was an intense event, but the energy and engagement was high through-out.

KNOCA would like to thank all the presenters and participants for making this an excellent event, and especially our colleagues at FIDE for such a productive and enjoyable collaboration. We’re already thinking about a second version somewhere else in Europe in 2024!
