The Knowledge Network on Climate Assemblies (KNOCA) aims to improve the commissioning, design, implementation and impact of climate assemblies, using evidence, knowledge exchange and dialogue. We are an active community of policy makers, practitioners, activists, researchers and other actors with experience and interest in climate assemblies who co-create activities and knowledge.
Nordic Deliberation Learning Call: Path towards institutionalization in local governments
Time

This is an external event organised by the partners in the Nordic Deliberation network: SoCentral, We Do Democracy, Digidem Lab, and Sitra.
Nordic cities and regions have experimented with Citizens’ Assemblies in local policy development and decision making. This Nordic Deliberation learning call is especially relevant for those who work in the public sector or with democracy and participation and want to understand how the Citizens' Assembly model can be used in municipal administrations. It focuses on:
- What are the barriers towards implementing a permanent Citizens’ Assembly in local government?
- How can we make Citizens’ Assembly components - like sortition, deliberation and expert/experiental knowledge - permanent tools in the municipal toolkit?
- Which cities are following the path towards institutionalization in the Nordics and how far have they come?
