The Knowledge Network on Climate Assemblies (KNOCA) aims to improve the commissioning, design, implementation and impact of climate assemblies, using evidence, knowledge exchange and dialogue. We are an active community of policy makers, practitioners, activists, researchers and other actors with experience and interest in climate assemblies who co-create activities and knowledge.
Launch of Community of Practice on Indigenous Citizens’ Assemblies

The organisers of the groundbreaking Porirua Citizens’ Assembly on Climate are launching a new Community of Practice on Indigenous Citizens’ Assemblies.
This is not just about sharing knowledge, but also strengthening Indigenous leadership in civic life and creating a shared platform for people across Aotearoa and beyond who are exploring deliberative democracy grounded in Indigenous values.
In the first session on Friday 24 October, 4-5pm NZT, the organisers will share the 101 fundamentals of the Porirua Citizens’ Assembly on Climate - what it was, why it mattered, where it happened, and how it worked. They’ll reflect on the importance of co-governance, Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and what it means to design democratic spaces that genuinely reflect Indigenous worldviews.
In the words of the organisers, the network is open to those new to this kaupapa or already deep in the mahi.
