March 2023

This document was originally written to help scopea KNOCA programme of work with climate policy actors.

There has been a persistent lack of attention toclimate assemblies among the core climate policy community, including the NGOs.This limits the visibility and policy impact of climate assemblies.Misconceptions exist about the risk of assemblies, power balance issues andcapacity constraints among policy actors.

This Briefing analyses the attitudesof climate policy actors towards climate assemblies, identifying key barriersto their engagement and providing recommendations for climate assembly practitioners.

The Briefing draws on research from a KNOCA Knowledge Development Projectcompleted in May 2022.
