KNOCA BRIEFING No.7

March, 2023 (originally authored October, 2022)

Summary
There has been a persistent lack of attention to climate assemblies among the core climate policy community, including the NGOs. This limits the visibility and policy impact of climate assemblies. Misconceptions exist about the risk of assemblies, power balance issues and capacity constraints among policy actors. This KNOCA Briefing analyses the attitudes of climate policy actors towards climate assemblies, identifying key barriers to their engagement and providing recommendations for climate assembly practitioners. The Briefing draws on research from a KNOCA Knowledge Development Project completed in May 2022.
