On Thursday 8 and Friday 9 September, KNOCA will be supporting the EU PHOENIX research project, Maison Française d’Oxford, Paris-Lumières University, Paris 8 University and Nuffield College in hosting a conference ‘Citizens’ assemblies for the climate: a political or technocratic response to the ecological challenge?’. Invited academics, practitioners, policy officials and activists will be considering the implications of the recent spate of climate assemblies across Europe and beyond, asking whether assemblies should be considered as a single or diverse phenomenon, whether they are only a fashion and whether they represent a meaningful political answer to the ecological challenge.
